Checking You Out – New School Style

How often and in how much detail? That depends on your web development and web design…and how seductive it is to your visitors. Yes, ladies and gentlemen…it’s much like dating, except more harsh and passive aggressive at the same time. If a visitor doesn’t like your site, they’re gone in a split second before you even know it. And they may never call you, either.
Some people get it and some people don’t. And there’s just not enough good education available to help navigate those choppy waters known as today’s consumer.
It really is this simple, though…people are checking you out. And they are researching you. If they like what they see on your website, it’s easy for them to research you online to see if what you say/what you promise is really true.
The unfortunate part is that the Internet has plenty of misinformation which does figure into the equation whether we like it or not. The best solution, ultimately, is don’t oversell yourself or your business. If you oversell, visitors are more likely to be researching you out of doubt rather than reinforcement…and then you’re sunk because ultimately we find what we look for.
With that in MIND (pun most definitely intended), we present an educational video below to put things in perspective. It comes from the 1987 comedy film “Amazon Women on the Moon” and is a great example of how consumers now view businesspeople in all realms before trust is earned.
Think of Steve Guttenberg as the business/salesperson and Roseanna Arquette as today’s skeptical consumer…
Maybe your track record with your clients is good…even stellar. Just don’t lose sight of the fact that people have more questions now than ever before, and all the research materials they need are at their fingertips through Google.
