Last week an era officially came to an end.   After an unbelievable 33 years, David Letterman stepped down and officially retired as a late night talk show host.

Your humble podcast host had a verrrry hard time with this…he even got a little weepy.  You see, Mark was there from the beginning…he is a David Letterman fan going back to his ill-fated morning show.  So when Letterman’s final show aired last week, Mark started reminiscing and watching some of the old NBC Letterman shows from the 1980’s on YouTube.

Then a thought occurred to him.

Letterman was the ultimate underdog in the early days with the odds really stacked against him, a low budget, very little (if any) clout and a quirky offbeat approach that was different than anything on late night at the time.
